1. Vieilli. ,,Sorte d'orgue à vapeur.`` (Lar. 19e). ,,Instrument à vent et à clavier [harmonium?].`` (BOISTE 1834).
Rem. Lar. 19e donne une déf. analogue pour le terme aéréphone, précisée ds Lar. 20e (instrument à clavier, faisant vibrer l'air à l'aide de lames frappées en même temps que les cordes).
2. Plur. Instruments à vent :
• Les instruments à air sont en grande profusion. Nous nous bornerons à citer les principaux en négligeant des spécimens considérés comme élémentaires, tels les trompes (de bois, d'écorce, de coquillage ou de poterie) ou les sifflets. Les trois groupes fondamentaux d'aérophones :flûtes, clarinettes, hautbois, présentent des variantes typologiques nombreuses.
